Group 11 Have finished

After months of hard work , group has finally finished !!!! and what an experience it has been . We have learnt new skills ( filming , editing , directing and producing ). We are very happy with the final edit of our film Love Triangle and we hope you enjoy it aswel .

Editing Process

After our rough edit we took all the feedback and set on improving it immediately. We re-flimed certain parts to make the match cut flow consistently.  We also caught Naomi facial expressions from different angles to show different aspects of her emotional reaction,  to create more impact with the scene.

Props

The opening to our film was based inn a office so we have the normal day to day you would find in an office such as:

• Computer
• Folders
• Papers
• Printer 
• A mug

However the main prop to our opening were the pictures. These pictures give the audience an idea of what may occur during the rest of the film. 

Lighting

During the course of filming my group experienced some lighting difficulties as we was in a room that lacked good natural lighting. We had to over come this by filming from different angles trying to find the best light source possible. As we filmed over a number of days, we had to film at the right time of day; in order to get the right amount of sun light. We also had to plan our filming process by filming according to what the weather was like. For example, we started on a sunny day therefore we could not film on a foggy day.

Title Sequence Inspiration

We were inspired by the film Dead Calm (1989) as in their opening title sequence there was also a black background.

180 Degrees Rule

Throughout filming we have been making sure that we stick to the 180 degrees rule. The 180 degrees rule is when an imaginary line cuts through the middle of a scene , when filming you must always stay on the same side so that it doesn't cause any confusion or disorientation for the audience.

Soundtrack Pro Editing Process

We have chosen to use the music "Highback Pro" as we feel this best fits the genre of our film opening.

Previous Student Work

The student film i have chosen to look at is Violet , I liked this film as i thought it was different to the others , the effects stood out as the title went in with the film of the film (stylised) e.g she had violet blood and her name was violet.

Prevoius Student Work

I think that 'Signiture' film opening was good because I like the camera angles such as the close ups and the medium shots. I think it was well edited and executed and intertextuality also think it shows good
linking with the film Fatal Attraction. My group film opening also links to the film Fatal Attraction. The film also has good sound effects.

We are about to go and film in Tony's office.

Editing Process

Through the editing process we decide to change the style of the font and the way it entered the screen. At first we wanted it to enter the screen whilst the film is playing, we also wanted the words to pan across the screen. However we decided to let the words enter the screen on a black background whilst fading in and fading out.

Problems With Rough Cut

After finishing the rough edit , we encountered several problems.
Our first problem was the title as some of it was not in sync with the rest. Our next fault was a jump cut placed where it was not meant to be. We will do more filming and editing to resolve this problem.

This is what we produced so far (dont judge us it is going to get better!) We plan to use two cameras to up the filming process. This will enable us to get all the match cuts, close ups and amy other camera techniques required.

Inspiration For Film Opening

Seeing as our film opening is based on a psychological rom,ance thriller . These are some films that have inspired me to do mine . From the way they open to the way how they plot the storyline. Seven (1995) was inspiring to me as the opening of the title sequence was really in detail making it very interesting to watch.

It's been a while since you blogger - don't forget that we need to see what you are doing when you are filming and editing your thriller: photos from the filming sessions, vlogs of what's gone well and what needs to be improved, and screen shots of the editing process.  The blog is looking good but it can be even better.

Different types of film openings

There are many types of film openings

• Discrete title sequence.
• Titles over a blank screen which is then followed by a narrative opening.
• A narrative opening, which has titles running throughout it.
• A stylised edited opening

Seven (Or se7en) is an example of a discrete opening. It shows all the credits, and gives away very little information about the film. For example, you can't tell who the character is, where the location is, etc. There is also a few special effects used, such as the fading of characters names when they come up.

A stylised film opening involves more information about the film. For example, The Taking Of Pelham 123 shows trains and a quick tempo. This shows that the film will be at a fast moving pace and something involving  trains, which already gives the audience an idea of what could happen.

Thriller target audiences

Thriller films will be mainly aimed at a younger audience, preferably ages 14-35. It's aimed at those ages because, they believe it's more suitable for their taste in exhilarating films etc. It's also slightly aimed at young men despite not having a gender preference.

Inspiring Film Openings

Panic Room-

Panic Room has inspired my group to portray our film opening in a sililar way, as it starts with an establishing shot which reaveals the locatin. In the same way as our film opening, this film takes place n the city which is reaveaed by all the buildings. Our group is planning on starting the film by filming the city from on top of a bulding looking down at the city, we are then going to pan up the building we choose for our office to be in which will establish the location of our film.
